Yes. Massachusetts requires a building permit for every re-roof, pulled by a licensed Construction Supervisor. We pull the permit through the Newburyport Building Department at City Hall under Construction Supervisor License CS-120178, and the permit cost is included in our price. If your home is in the Fruit Street Local Historic District, exterior changes also go before the city’s Local Historic District Commission, so we check that before we schedule.
Most homes are finished in one day. Larger or more complex roofs can take two to three days. We confirm the schedule with you before work starts.
No. We tear off down to the deck on every replacement so we can inspect the decking, install ice and water shield and get the flashing right.

Shingles and Materials
We install Owens Corning architectural shingles, including the Duration line, with matching Owens Corning starter strips, hip and ridge shingles and ventilation. For porches and low-pitch sections we often pair the shingles with standing seam metal or EPDM rubber.
Asphalt Shingles
Asphalt Shingles are the most popular choice because they are economically priced and are backed by Owens Corning manufacturer warranties.
EPDM Rubber Roofing
EPDM Rubber Roofing is the perfect roofing material for low slope applications.
How Your Roof Replacement Works
We start with a free inspection of your roof and attic, then give you a written estimate and help you choose shingle colors and options. Once you approve, we schedule the job and order materials. On installation day we protect your landscaping, tear off the old roof, inspect and repair the decking, install ice and water shield, underlayment, flashing, ventilation and new shingles, then clean up with a magnetic nail sweep.
Before we leave, we walk the property with you and review your workmanship and manufacturer warranties. Financing is available through St. Mary’s Bank. See our roof replacement page for more.
